Robyn walked into Starbucks, ordering herself a hot chocolate before sitting down. She sat beside a window, looking outside and seeing guys on skateboards. She half way wished she got a chance to go skateboarding, but liked her decision of walking. She took a small sip before placing it down. She was bored out of her mind and hadn't see anyone around lately. She thought she was going to melt, until someone had taken the seat beside her. She looked up to see who it was.

Jake suddenly asked "Why so surprised?" with a calm look on his face. At that moment, Jake decided to see what was Robyn up too. He then questioned Robyn after ordering a cup of hot chocolate to join her. He asked "Why are you here all alone just looking out the window?" He then took a sip of his hot chocolate that the waiter left for him on the table. He wanted to see what Robyn would say in return.

"OHMYGOD!" Was all Robyn could say as she quickly gave Jake a squeezing hug. She felt like she hadn't seen him in forever, though it had only been a week. She had waited for a return hug before letting go. "Bored." She answered to him, rolling her eyes. "As always." She said, a smile printed on her face as she took a sip. "Well why are you here? I thought you were in Arizona?" She had asked him, slightly surprised. He was due back for about another week. But she had felt grateful to see a face - especially his.

"Well I came back from Arizona last night" he said as quickly as possible while taking a sip of his hot chocolate. "I was suppose to stay one more week but it just didn't feel right." He thought to himself if Robyn will understand how he felt. He then continued, "I just couldn't stay in Arizona because I missed skateboarding, and playing music with my friends, I wouldn't survive not even a month in Arizona without that." He was waiting to see what Robyn's expression would be after saying what he said to her. So to make it not obvious, he continued to sip his hot chocolate until only the cup was left.

"No," Robyn began as she placed her drink down. "You had your guitar and skateboard." She said. What is he trying to say? She thought as she took a small sip. "You came back because you couldn't last even 2 weeks without hearing from me and you know it." She joked with a chuckle. She wasn't sure if that was really true, but they had been insperable ever since they could remember. If anything, Robyn would have been on the plan with him, but she couldn't since she had wasted all her flight money for a new skateboard and microphone since thoes had broke. Robyn took a long sip from her drink, await his reply as her mind began to scatter with questions. Why is he really here a week early? Didn't he wan't to see his grandmother in the hospital longer? Is something going on with him? He seems so out of it. But her thoughts were cut off when she realized he was talking. "Hmm?" She asked as she placed her drink down for a moment before getting ready to drink more as he spoke.

"Robyn, is something wrong?" Jake could see the look in Robyn's face, and he knew that she wasn't okay. He just noticed that she was a bit nervous because she had a tendency to drink a lot when she was, and I remember that Robyn would do that when we we're young. "So... What's new?" He said quickly trying to change the subject. "I hope you have improved on your skateboarding." He then jumped on his feet and said "hold on for a minute, I have to go get more hot chocolate, there is no point of talking without a nice hot cup of hot chocolate." He said with a big laugh.

Robyn shook her head, throwing her hand off. "No, no. I'm fine. Really." She said sweetly. She had the bad habbit to fiddle with things. And here it seemed like her bad habbit was drinking the hot chocolate over and over again. "Nothing really." She shrugged. "And you?" She had asked him. Robyn gave him a smile as she watched him go to get hot choclate as she looked down at her half empty cup, fiddling with it as she stroked her finger in a circular motion. She was waiting for him to come back. There was just one question she had to ask him. There had to be only one reason why he was here, and she wasn't buying the whole, miss-my-friends-miss-music-and-skateboarding lie he was telling her. She wasn't stupid, though she knew other people would buy it. She looked out the window, but she was looking at her reflection, and then then his reflection. She straightened herself up as she saw him, holding herself from fidiling with anything or taking more-than-needed sips of her drink.

Jake walked back to the table with only one cup of hot chocolate in his hands. "so what are you looking at?" He asked placing the cup carefully on the table so he won't spill any. "So..." he said hoping she will interrupt him.

"Nothing." She had answered him before she watched him place the cup before she had just interuppted him. "Jake," She began softly, "Did your grandmother die?" She asked. She didn't mean to slightly blurt it out, it just spilled. She backed up a bit until her back hit the seat, her eyes with empathy. There could be no other reason why he'd be back.

Jake couldn't tell Robyn what happened with his grandmother. He felt as if it was not to be said. He then grabbed the cup of hot chocolate and started taking small sips. "My grandmother is fine." He said with a sarcastic tone, hoping she will not know he was lying to her. Jake took another small sip of the hot chocolate and then placed it on the table next to Robyn's cup. "So what about that hot chocolate?" he said trying to change the subject once again. "Hot chocolate is good, isn't it?" he said with a worried expression on his face.

Rob knew he was lying the moment he took small sips. Once his drink was down, she jumped at him, giving him a tight, squeeze, shutting her eyes tightly too. She didn't want to let him go, not at the moment, so she kept it, feeling empathy towards him. "I'm so sorry." She whispered in his ear as she let go. She began to fiddle with her cup once again, not a word in her mind. It felt like a silent torcher, and she stayed like that, as if being silent for the death.

"Sorry for what?" He quickly said with a shocking expression. He then sat down and was curious. Questions were flying through his heads, "Does she know my grandmother died?" "how does she know?" "What should i do?" and so many more questions popped in his head at once. "So..." he said again. "Why are you sorry?" and that was the final word he said.

"Oh come on Jake, I'm not stupid. I've known you wayy too long." Rob said, looking at him. "I'm sorry about your grandmother." She said, her voice a bit lower than she wanted. She sat just sat there quietly, waiting for his response as she fiddled with her cup.

"True." He said, "you have been knowing me for quite a long time now." "But I am really disappointed that my grandmother past away." He said with a sad expression on his face, almost tearing up. He quickly grabbed a napkin that was sitting upon the table and started blowing his nose in it. "I just didn't want anyone to know, thats all." He said sobbing for a while "my grandmother meant everything for me and I just didn't want the pain to come back. That's why I was avoiding the subject." He said for the final time.

Robyn just patted Jake on the back gentally. "Hey, it's okay it's okay." She whispered. She knew that the grandmother ment everything to him. But something seemed different about Jake. Jake was, well, sobbing. It was hard to just see him like that. She always thought he would be more tough, maybe a tear or 2. But sobbing. At first, it had given Rob a shock, but she pushed it away as she began to comphort her best friend.
